It has just been revealed that Italian Serie A outfit Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti was in line to pick the vacant job at Arsenal after former manager Arsene Wenger announced his decision to quit.

Carlo Ancelotti had indicated interest in the job but he was not favored before former PSG boss Unai Emery was considered and he grabbed the opportunity.

The Napoli boss has noted that he was interested in the job and had made it known to the club but he was turned down despite a recommendation by Italian journalist Ciro Venerato.

However, He is now at the Serie A outfit while Unai Emery has been able to return the Gunners to the contest for a top-four finish. Arsenal are now in the fourth position on the Premier League table with seven games until the end of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s wish to join his family in London was one of the reasons why he was interested in the Arsenal job as it will hand him the opportunity to be with his family but that did not work out.

Meanwhile, the Italian boss will now face Unai Emery and Arsenal in the quarterfinals of the Europa League, a clash that will suggest who the better manager is between them.
