Liverpool Eyeing Summer Move For £35m-rated La Liga Striker

Five-time European champions Liverpool are plotting a move for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

According to the publication from popular media platform Goal, Liverpool want to sign the highly rated attacker following a glowing recommendation from former Reds striker Luis Suarez.

Uruguayan international star Luis Suarez was on the payroll at Liverpool until the summer of 2014 when he signed for Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona in a club-record deal worth £75m.

Luis Suarez and Maxi Gomez play together for the Uruguayan national team.

Maxi Gomez has been in very good form for Spanish La Liga club Celta Vigo this season and his quality has gone unnoticed with major European sides like Barcelona and Liverpool.

The 22-year-old attacker is rated at around £35m which would be within the reach of the aforementioned clubs.

He has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 23 league games for Celta Vigo this term.

In total, Maxi Gomez has scored nine goals in 24 games in all competitions.

Earlier reports had claimed that Spanish champions Barcelona are targeting him as a direct replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez.

He’s not the only attacker linked with Liverpool.

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner has also been touted as a possible transfer addition for the Reds.
