Chelsea have made initial steps to sign Simon Kjaer ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Blues are very keen on signing a centre-back next month and has marked Fenerbahce defender Kjaer, who has impressed for the Turkish giants since he joined from Ligue 1 side, Lille during 2015 summer transfer window.
The defender was monitored by a host of European top clubs with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly tracking the Danish star but recent reports have it that the Blues have made contact with Kjaer over a winter move.
Chelsea might sweat on convincing the 27-year-old defender to make the switch as it is understood that Fenerbahce are not desperate to sell him and hold out for an astronomical fee since Kjaer still have three years left on his current contract.
Antonio Conte might be buying Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arch enemy in the Denmark international after his altercation with the Swede during their Europa League clash that saw Ibrahimovic grab the throat of Kjaer during their heated exchange.
Relating to the incident after the match, Kjaer said: ‘But that’s the way I know him from the pitch. He is the kind of chest-puffing player, who is arrogant.
