How Alex Iwobi would have been a “gunner”

Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi has confessed that he came close to leaving the North London outfit Arsenal some times back as he was advised against staying at the club.

There is no doubt that the Nigerian international is now enjoying life at the Emirates Stadium and will no longer seek a move away from the club as he is now a major part of the Unai Emery team.

However, the 22-year-old has now made more than 140 appearances for the North London outfit with about 14 senior team goals and has shown prospect of more in the coming future.

Alex Iwobi explained that at the age of 14, he almost left the club because he felt he was not as physically able as he ought to be because he was small, adding that while others were handed pro deals at age 16, he was still given a scholarship contract which was discouraging.

However, Alex Iwobi has grown to a bigger player than his youth days and is now impressive and showing good signs of improvement and a bright future.

The Academy graduate who was encouraged by former manager Arsene Wenger is now a major member of the Nigerian senior national team where he was also part of the coach Gernot Rohr team that went to the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
