Report – £35m World Cup Star Could Complete Arsenal Transfer This Month

Shkodran Mustafi

Arsenal judging by reports have signed Torreira from Sampdoria. The Uruguayan as of the time of writing this article is according to The Transfer Hound the fourth most talked about player on twitter right now and that’s now a big surprise if you consider the fact that he has been one of the best players at the world cup so far. But aside incomings, Arsenal also need to work on the outgoing players. One of the likely players to leave the club, Shkodran Mustafi, has been linked with a move away from the club today.

Last summer while Arsene Wenger was still Arsenal’s manager, Shkodran Mustafi was linked with a move to both Valencia his former club and Inter Milan. Milan, in particular, were thought to be very keen on signing the German but nothing came out of that deal and he stayed at Arsenal. And after enduring yet another tough season with Arsenal, there has been speculations that he could be sold by new Arsenal manager Unai Emery to fund signings into other areas.

And if reports coming from Italy today are worth believing, the player could well be on his way to Italy. Juventus are said to be interested in signing the player and will test Arsenal’s resolve to keep the former Everton star with a bid of €20 million. Arsenal reportedly paid £35m for Mustafi and €20 million ( about £17 million ) will certainly not be enough to sell him.

For me the German should be sold but if Arsenal can’t get as much as £25 million for him there will be no need to sell as £17 million certainly won’t be enough to get in a replacement for him and with proper coaching Mustafi and some of our defenders could yet become better than they were last season and the seasons before.

If there are players who I think should urgently be sold and the money spent to bring in replacements, for me that will be Welbeck, Elneny and Perez. I would have preferred to see Perez stay behind and fight for a chance under Emery but I am not sure if the Spaniard fixtures in the plans of Emery for Arsenal next season. Welbeck and Elneny on their part should leave.

Elneny who was linked with a move to Leicester City last season could fetch Arsenal around £18 million while Welbeck should certain fetch at least £20 million. This sum would certainly go a long way in helping Arsenal bring in quality players who will be an upgrade on the aforementioned though.
