Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho said his side lost stability in the absence of Nemanja Matic after the midfielder picked an injury on Tuesday night at Vicarage Road.
The Serbian international moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea this summer for £40m and has quickly settled to life at his new club.
He is one of the most influential players in Mourinho’s team this term, and was able to effectively care for the midfield during the absence of the duo of Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini.
But Jose revealed after the 4-2 win at Watford that he has no choice but to replace Matic due to a muscle injury.
Watford almost shared points with the red devils after scoring two goals in quick succession to make it 3-2, before Jesse Lingard sealed the win for Man United with his superb solo goal.
Any kind of muscular injury is a big worry for both Mourinho and the player. Even though Nemanja came off the pitch without aids and didn’t look in serious pain, this isn’t an assurance he will feature in Man United’s next two vital games – the premier league matches against Arsenal and Man City.
Mourinho will also hope to welcome the duo of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones back into his team before the back-to-back games.
