New reports emerged that Manchester United are lurking around to offer ruthless striker Edinson Cavani the chance of a move to ply his trade in England if he failed to agree a new deal with his present team Paris St Germain.
Cavani had been offered by PSG a new three-year deal to replace his current contract that runs out in 2018. However, the star striker is reportedly stalling on putting pen to paper.
For the last 18 months, the 29 year old Uruguay international has been a target for Manchester United and Chelsea, and Jose Mourinho would like to see him play for the red devils as he could be a possible long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The £54.3 million signing has scored 14 goals in 14 games for PSG this season and is on course to better his best Ligue 1 return of 19 goals set last season.
Though Cavani has been in talks with PSG for months about a new contract, it isn’t still sure if he wants to extend his stay at the club or not.
Ibrahimovic, who played alongside Cavani at PSG, is 35 and the club are already looking at forwards capable of replacing him. The former Napoli hitman has been in fine form since replacing Ibrahimovic as PSG’s main striker.
So far so good, Cavani has scored 20 goals from 20 appearances so far this season.
