Eden Hazard not planning on leaving Chelsea

Eden Hazard has committed his immediate future to Chelsea and promised only to leave on a high.

Hazard, 25, has been regularly linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid following a tough season with Chelsea but the Belgium international played down reports he could leave Stamford Bridge.

He also expressed a desire to depart “like a boss, like I did in Lille,” a reference to him scoring a hat trick in his final game for the Ligue 1 side, notching 20 goals in 38 league games that season and becoming only the second player in history to retain the division’s Player of the Year award.

Speaking to Telefoot, he said: “I have a contract until 2020. I don’t want to finish like this. If I have to leave, I must do it like a boss! Like I did in Lille. PSG are not among my projects right now.”

Hazard went on to explain his form in the past campaign, during which he only managed six goals in all competitions as Chelsea finished 10th, had been hard to take but he had no fears about getting back to his best next season.

He said: “Everything was complicated, it was difficult. Honestly, for five or six years I’d always been at my best and this was the first season where it was more difficult. But everyone knows that in a career there are highs and lows.

“For the time being, touch wood, I’ve only experienced the highs — except for this season, when it wasn’t quite as good. But it was meant to happen this season. I hope it doesn’t happen again next season.”
