Bad News For Man United After Target Insists He Is Happy At Current Club

Barcelona star Sergi Roberto has insisted that he is happy at Camp Nou despite serious interest from Manchester United.

The 25-year-old was a key figure for the Catalan giants last season, playing at right-back and midfield positions but the arrival of Nelson Semedo and Paulinho this summer could see the Spaniard fall behind the pecking order at the club.

Manchester United are believed to be considering a move for Roberto and are ready to trigger his £36 million release clause but will have to compete with Chelsea who have also indicated their interest in signing the player.

However, despite the transfer reports Roberto has insisted that he is ‘happy’ at Barcelona and keen to prove himself under new boss Ernesto Valverde this season.

Valverde has also backed the versatile star to remain a key figure in his plans at the Camp Nou despite the possibility of having limited opportunities this term.

United boss Jose Mourinho has made clear his intentions to bring in a fourth signing this summer, following the arrivals of Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic while Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on increasing his squad depth before the end of the summer transfer window, with speculations that the Italian wants to sign three to four players more to the Stamford Bridge this summer.
