Arsenal join transfer talks to beat La Liga giants to quality midfielder move

Arsenal are allegedly in discussions over completing the move of Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer, who will be free to leave in the summer if he fails to extend his current deal with the German Bundesliga outfit.

Barcelona linked

Catalan giant FC Barcelona have also been linked heavily with the talented youngster in the past, but according to Daily Star, Arsene Wenger has been trying hard to convince the talented player to join him at the Emirates Stadium.

Both sides could do with reinforcement in the middle, with Max Meyer looking like one of Europe’s most promising youngsters in that position at the moment.

The German could surely be an upgrade on someone like Swiss international Granit Xhaka in the middle for the gunners, while FC Barcelona could possibly also do with bringing him as a long-haul replacement for the legendary Andres Iniesta in the midfield.

Schalke hoping to keep star player

As per Daily Star, German side Schalke are still hoping to tie the player down to a new contract before the season ends as they won’t want to continue losing their best legs in this way.

Leon Goretzka is reportedly prepared set to join Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window after also opting not to renew with the German side, while defender Sead Kolasinac was signed by the gunners on a free last summer transfer window.
