Arsenal ‘hit rock’ in attempt to complete £97m transfer

According to reports emanating from Spain, Premier League giant Arsenal seem set to face stiff competition from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain for the swoop of FC Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele this summer transfer window.

Youngster has struggled

The forward has heavily struggled to settle at Camp Nou this term following his summer transfer from German side Borussia Dortmund and this could mean he is ready for a speedy exit from the side.

The Frenchman arrived with a lot of expectation on his shoulders after what BBC Sport suggested was a £97million transfer, having become one of Europe’s hottest prospect during his spell in Germany.

Recently, Don Balon linked the Gunners with an interest in the France international, but the latest is that Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint Germain are also becoming a contender, with Argentine Lionel Messi also approving his exit.

Development hindered in Spain

It surely doesn’t seem good for Dembele, 20, in terms of making a developing at the Catalan club, and making the move back to France could be the best step for the youngster in his career.

The Gunners will undoubtedly be disappointed if he eventually joins PSG, however, with Arsenal in need of attacking reinforcement of Dembele’s calibre following the winter exit of Chilean Alexis Sanchez in that department of the pitch.
