How Ozil lost his drive and hunger at Arsenal

Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon has stated that Mesut Ozil lost his drive and hunger to play football and be competitive since he signed a lucrative deal with Arsenal.

Arguably, Mesut Ozil has not been the same player he was so far this season and that is why he almost got off the books of manager Unai Emery as the Spanish boss insisted that he must give the best performance to make the team and not be there as a result of his big name.

Arsenal were dragged into signing a big money deal with Mesut Ozil when it was time to extend his deal as they offered him a whopping £350,000 weekly to avoid losing him for free as his contract was already running out.

Since the new deal, Mesut Ozil has been out of form with Lee Dixon stating that he has lost his drive and hunger; as such he cannot play competitive football anymore.

However, Mesut Ozil refused to agree with the speculations linking him away from the club as he insisted on staying to fight for his shirt as he has no intention of leaving the Emirates Stadium any time soon.

There are suggestions that he is beginning to win the heart of the manager with his quality performance and will be handed more playing time as the season progresses.
