Deal almost agreed! Chelsea intensify efforts to complete signing of 9-goal forward

According to British media reports, Premier League giants Chelsea have stepped up their bid to land Leon Bailey from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen this summer transfer window.

Metro is claiming that Chelsea are keen on a transfer deal to sign the 20-year-old this summer window as they look to reinforce their team ahead of next campaign.

The same article states that Bailey is being monitored by a number of English Premier League sides after his impressive season in the German league with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old scored nine goals and provided six assists in 30 German league matches for the Bundesliga outfit this term.

Man City previously keen

As per the same report, defending Premier League champions Manchester City were interested in signing Bailey, but the Etihad outfit are now closing in on a transfer deal for Leicester city star Riyad Mahrez, and that could open wide the door for the Blues to complete a transfer deal for Bailey.

The FA Cup winners are likely to be in the market for a number of new players this summer transfer window as they look to build a team good enough to win the Premier League next term.

Chelsea finished up fifth in the English Premier League log this term as they missed out on a place in the UEFA Champions League for next season.
