United showing more seriousness in the pursuit of £40m rated player

Manchester United are believed to be showing more seriousness in their pursuit of Italian side AS Roma central defender Kostas Manolas and are determined to conclude a deal as soon as the winter transfer window reopens in coming weeks.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is not satisfied with the performance of his defenders, having severally blamed them for his side’s woes and he is bent on having some additions to help strengthen the back-line.

Also, the Portuguese manager had predicted at the start of this campaign that his side will have a difficult season because of their failure to sanction deals for defenders in the last transfer window.

Therefore, Kostas Manolas has been penned down as a good addition to the Old Trafford team having shown he has the ability to meet up with the rigour of the Premier League.

Kostas Manolas is also one of the best legs in the Italian Serie A having joined in 2014 from Olympiacos with a fee of about £14m. Just this season, he has scored 3 goals in 18 games across all competitions.

Suggestions are that the former Chelsea boss will be handed some funds to get busy in the transfer window when it reopens in January.
