La Liga star reportedly set to quit club as Manchester United & Chelsea agree to pay release clause

Tensions are beginning to mount at the Nou Camp between FC Barcelona and Spain international midfielder Sergi Roberto. According to reports in Spanish outlets, the 25-year-old is set to quit the former Spanish La Liga giants as newly appointed manager of the Catalan club Ernesto Valverde continues to overlook him in preparation for the new Spanish La Liga season.

With the arrival of Brazilian Paulinho on Monday from the Chinese Super League, the Manchester United target is worried over his future but has not been assured by the Catalan giants that he will play a part in the clubs quest for the title this new season.

After news emerged yesterday that Premier League giants Manchester United were set to pay the player’s £36M release clause, there is more pressure for Barcelona manager Valverde to decide on the player’s future in the next couple of days.

Spanish news outlet Sport also reported that reigning Premier League champions Chelsea are also set to meet Barcelona’s valuation as the player’s patience begins to wear thin.

The publication also noted that Sergi could decide to depart the La Liga club by the end of the week in a bid to force a move to the English Premier League.
