It has been revealed that former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez convinced Luca Torreira to join Arsenal this summer.
The Uruguayan completed a stunning move to the Emirates earlier this summer, following his brilliant displays for Sampdoria last season as well as at the World Cup in Russia.
Several clubs were linked to his signature before Torreira opted to sign for the Gunners in a move believed to be in a region of £26 million.
The midfielder’s agent, Pablo Bentancur has now come out to reveal that Luis Suarez who was with Torreira at the just concluded World Cup, played a significant role in the midfielder’s choice.
It should be recalled that Suarez was at the middle of transfer move that caused a lot of uproar on social media, after Arsenal submitted a £40m plus £1 bid for Liverpool for his signature in 2013.
Torreira, who just joined the rest of the Arsenal squad last week, played part in their 2-0 win over Lazio in a friendly game as they prepare to better their chances in the Premier League under Unai Emery.
Despite signing Torreira, Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Sevilla and France midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, with reports that Emery believes the lanky anchorman can add more value to his squad.
