Confirmed – Arsenal set to table offer for a 23-year-old defender

According to media reports, Arsenal could join the race to land John Stones from newly crowned Premier League Champions Manchester City this summer window.

City willing to sell

The Sun is claiming that City are set to let the English man leave the club at the end of the current season after falling down the pecking order under Spaniard Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

The signing of Aymeric Laporte in the winter transfer window has limited Stones playing time, droping to fourth place in the order for a starting place at the club.

As per the same report, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss is a fan of the England international but would reluctantly let the 23-year-old go in the summer transfer window for the good of the defender’s career.

Defender won’t come cheap

The same article says that the Citizens would want to recoup some if not all of the £47.5million they paid to land him from Merseyside club Everton two seasons ago.

And the report suggests that the Gunners could be one of the teams keen on signing him once the new manager is named at The Emirates Stadium.

It has also been suggested that Liverpool could be another suitor hoping to land Stones in the summer.
