Manchester United have sent Matty Willock on a season-long loan to Dutch side, FC Utrecht.
The promising midfielder has been tipped to become one of the best of his generation with his impressive displays with United age-grade teams but could not get a chance with the senior team due to the presence of quality players.
Having being shipped out on loan to the Dutch Eredevisie to gain first team experience, the midfielder is expected to prove himself in the next 12 months in order to get a chance in Jose Mourinho’s star-studded squad in near future.
Following Willock’s loan move, Utrecht boss Erik ten Hag expressed his delight at the opportunity to have the youngster in his squad, while also praising his ‘multi-functional’ attributes with hopes that he could continue his brilliant displays that he exhibited while at Arsenal and Manchester United.
The 21-year-old dumped Arsenal for Manchester United in 2012, to become one of the most talked about youngsters in the famous Red Devils academy.
Jose Mourinho who has previously been criticised for not developing academy stars in his former clubs, has shown glimpses that he is starting to think in that direction at United, giving a couple of teenagers chances during the latter stage of their last Premier League campaign while he also signed some budding youngsters this current window.
