Man United Receive Transfer Boost As Abramovich Approves Nemanja Matic Transfer

Manchester United have received a huge boost in the pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic after club owner Roman Abramovich approves his sale, according to reports.

The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Stamford Bridge after falling out of favour under Antonio Conte who swooped for Tiemoue Bakayoko to partner N’Golo Kante in the midfield next season.

Nemanja Matic has been left out of their preseason tour squad as he prepares to leave the club with reports that Manchester United and Juventus are keen on signing this summer.

Prior reports have it that United boss Jose Mourinho wants to bring in Matic to support Ander Herrera in the midfield while also freeing up space for Paul Pogba to roam next season but his plans were initially jeopardised after Chelsea changed their mind due to Manchester United’s move for Romelu Lukaku who was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for most parts of the summer.

However, reports in the Telegraph claim that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned the deal to sell Nemanja Matic due to his key role in helping the Blues win the Premier League on two occasions.

Juventus are believed to be unwilling to pay the £50 million asking price to Matic paving way for Manchester United to seal the move.
