Man United Open Talks With £175,000-per-week Deal For Midfielder Despite Barca Interest

Manchester United have opened new contract talks with Ander Herrera amid interest from Barcelona.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Old Trafford this summer despite being an integral figure for the club last season, forming an impressive partnership with Paul Pogba in the midfield.

There have been reports that Barcelona are interested in signing Herrera this summer after seeing him display qualities that could fit in their midfield set-up under a new boss, Erneste Valverde who has also worked with the midfielder during their at Atletico Bilbao.

However, reports in the Daily Star claims that Manchester United have started talks with the Spaniard over a new deal that is worth £175,000 per week in order to fend off interest from Barca.

It is understood that Jose Mourinho is keen on adding new faces in the midfield to consolidate on the efforts of Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera, with suggestions that he does not want to cash in on the midfielder.

Barcelona are believed to be ready to offer United £60 million for the midfielder, after losing out on their transfer move for Paris Saint Germain midfielder Marco Verratti who has changed his mind about leaving the French capital city this summer.
