Liverpool Linked With Former Manchester United Star, Klopp To Cough Out £33.5m

Anfield giants Liverpool have been reportedly linked with former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, who is now on the books of Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, after he joined the club in the summer of 2014 from 20-time English champions.

As per the report in the Daily Mirror, the Reds want to strengthen their attacking options in the January transfer window with England international Daniel Sturridge in and out of the side through injury and loss of form while summer signing Sadio Mane is expected to leave for the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon at the turn of the year with the former Red Bull Salzburg of Austria man regarded as a key player for the Teranga Lions of Senegal.

Aside Liverpool, English side Tottenham Hotspur and struggling Spanish La Liga club Valencia are also interested in the Mexican star according to the report with a release clause of £33.5m in his current contract with the German club.

For Liverpool, the club is locked in the race for the league title with the likes of league leaders Chelsea, 2nd placed side Arsenal and Manchester City meaning that manager Jurgen Klopp is searching for attacking reinforcements to complement the ones at his disposal as the title race hots up.
