Liverpool Appears To Have Dumped Van Dijk For This Spanish Defender

Although Liverpool are still linked with Virgil Van Dijk, it appears the club do not want to put all their eggs in just one basket and have been doing other things behind the scenes before the end of this summer transfer window.

The Anfield club have begun looking at other targets including Real Sociedad’s Inigo Martinez, despite that the talented player is also needed by Man City this summer.

The Spanish defender has impressed at his Spanish club and his impressive performances has seen him playing in the Spanish national team also.

Right now, there is a report that an English club have submitted a lucrative bid for Martinez, but the premier league club was not named. And out of curiosity, we’re asking: ‘Could it be Liverpool?’

It was added that the unnamed premier league club are prepared to meet the player’s €30m release clause should the Spanish defender agrees moving to the English top flight this summer.

While Jurgen Klopp is obviously determined to bring in a top name centre-back this summer, we are looking if he was the one who is making the move for Martinez, as he desire having a strong team to compete in the Champions League this season.

While Virgil is expected to come for something over £50M, Martinez’s price is lesser, and the Spain international is just 26-year-old too.
