Fantastic Duo: Two Liverpool Players Make Team Of The Week Shortlist

Two Liverpool players have been named on the Team of the Week shortlist for the last set of games for the season in the Premier League.

Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold were in superb form for Liverpool in their final league game of the season.

Liverpool beat Premier League high-flyers Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at home but it was not enough for the Reds who were piped to the league title by Manchester City.

The Citizens retained their league title by beating hosts Brighton and Hove Albion 4-1 on the final day of the season.

Manchester City won the league with 98 points ahead of Liverpool who finished the season with 97 points.

Sadio Mane scored both goals for Liverpool in the win over Wolves, while Trent Alexander-Arnold was involved in the two goals.

Senegalese international Mane took his league tally to 22 goals which was enough to win the Golden Boot alongside Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

On his part, Trent Alexander-Arnold finished the season with 12 assists to set a new record for the most goals provided by a defender in the history of the Premier League.

Apart from the Liverpool players, others on the list of the best players for the final week of the season include Neil Etheridge (Cardiff City), Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City), Ben Chilwell and Harry Maguire (Leicester City), Michy Batshuayi (Crystal Palace), Mark Noble (West Ham United), Jamaal Lascelles (Newcastle United) and Christian Eriksen (Manchester United).
