Deal Almost Agreed as player’s agent confirms Chelsea have started talks over transfer

According to the Sun, Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the move of AS Roma defender and Liverpool transfer target Emerson Palmieri in a £20m transfer deal.

The Brazilian left-back has shone like million stars in the Italian Serie A and manager Antonio Conte would certainly welcome more depth in that position between mid-season and end of the campaign.

Emerson Palmieri looks like a good signing considering his transfer fee, a far easier and cheaper option than signing Juventus left-back Alex Sandro in that role.

The Telegraph recently linked the Blues with interest in Alex Sandro earlier this campaign, but named that Juventus £60million valuation for him would possibly put them off the deal.

It now looks like the Blues will opt for the cheaper option instead, with his representative cited in the Sun’s report as stating this would be a dream come through for his client.

This is despite reported interest from Merseyside club Liverpool a few months back, as claimed by Calciomercato and Gazzetta dello Sport.

Spain international Marco Alonso has greatly impressed in that wing-back position on the left for the Blues, but the desperate need for more depth seems crystal clear given the club’s involvement in more club competitions this campaign than last season.
