According to reports, Chelsea are leading the race to sign striker Robert Lewandowski after La Liga giants Real Madrid pulled out of the transfer race for the Bayern Munich forward’s signature.
Real Madrid no longer interested in Lewandowski
The Daily Express, as cited by Metro, is claiming that the UEFA Champions League finalists have lost faith in the Polish after his disappointing display in the semi-final.
The same report states that the Los Blancos are unsure whether the striker is capable of replacing France striker Karim Benzema after the Real Madrid striker outperformed the Bayern forward in the UEFA Champions League last four.
As per the same report, The FA Cup winners have now moved ahead of the Champions League finalists in the transfer race to sign the 29-year-old forward in the summer to strengthen their attacking line.
Prolific frontman
The prolific striker has netted 150 goals in 194 matches across all competitions during four campaigns at Bundesliga side Bayern Munich after the Poland striker moved to Bayern from Dortmund in 2014.
The Blues finished in the fifth position in the English Premier League log last season after they lost 3-0 to Newcastle in their last Premier League fixture of the 2017-18 campaign.
Chelsea will face another campaign without UEFA Champions League football after finishing outside the top four for the second successive time in three seasons.
