According to a top Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, Tottenham Hotspurs could be tempted to offload defender Toby Alderweireld this summer transfer window as the player continues to be strongly linked with a transfer to Manchester United.
Man United seek defensive reinforcement
The Red Devils are thought to be in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer ahead of manager Jose Mourinho’s third season in charge at Old Trafford and Alderweireld has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
The defender’s Spurs future has been a constant source of rumour because of his failure to sign a new contract with the north London side.
The 29-year-old Belgium international defender fell out of favour this term and was limited to only 13 League appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
Spurs await an official bid
It remains to be viewed if Mourinho’s team will indeed submit an official offer to land Alderweireld this summer transfer window or not, but Belgian reporter Terreur seems to believe that Spurs would be open to offloading the defender.
Man United are bound to be constantly linked with a number of top players in the coming months as they try to reinforce their team ahead of next term.
United will be attempting to mount a very serious title challenge under the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager next season.
