Almos Done: £30 Million Star Expected To Join Manchester United Come Summer

Right now at the moment, Manchester United already have an overcrowded central defense with superb defenders like Rojo, Blind, Smalling, Jones and Bailly fit and around. Therefore, many observers and Old Trafford faithfuls thought everything is fine with the defense department and attention should be elsewhere.

However, it seems United manager Jose Mourinho is not looking at things the way many of us are doing. And the Portuguese tactician is ready to further strengthen his back line by signing a world class central defender come summer.

Recently, the Sun published a report where they claimed that the ex Chelsea manager wants to sell Daley Blind and replace him with talented Swedish international Victor Lindelof.

The Benfica center back, though was so strongly speculated that he would become a Manchester United player in the last winter transfer session, is not however the only defender currently linked with a move to Old Trafford.  Stefan de Vrij who plays for Lazio in Italy, has been heavily linked as well.

Many sources are already claiming that the Dutch international will leave his Serie A side  come summer. According to latest reports coming from Italy (CalcioNews24 via Corriere dello Sport), the £30 million rated defender will bid farewell to Lazio come June and is expected to join the Old Trafford club – who are reportedly in pole position to secure his signature.

De Vrij, since arriving Lazio from Feyenoord, has been fantastic for the Italian club.

CalcioNews24 also stated that his club has won 2 points per game when Stefan has featured and only 1.4 points per game in his absence.

25-year-old Stefan has been tracked by Jose Mourinho for quite some time and it will not come as any surprise for many of us if he ends up joining him at Manchester United.
