Chelsea beat Tottenham 4-2 at Wembley on Saturday to proceed into the FA Cup final. And Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is of the opinion that Conte’s side beat his side because the Stamford Bridge club were ‘more clinical’.
About five minutes into the game after former Barcelona player Pedro was fouled near the box, Samba star Willian, who was surprisingly used ahead of Belgian winger Eden Hazard, scored a well taken free kick to give Chelsea the lead.
However, Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane levelled up with a superb header which crept past far into the corner of the post.
And before the half time was over, Nigerian international Victor Moses was fouled in the box, giving Chelsea the penalty that was sent home by Willian again. But Spurs equalised once more following a superb finishing from Dele Alli.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte introduced Hazard into the game by surprisingly substituting Willian, and it was the Belgian who put Chelsea ahead once more deep into the second half, before Nemanja Matic scored the screamer that sealed Chelsea’s place in the final.
And Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking after the defeat, congratulated Conte and his side.
He however insisted that his side dominated the match, but Chelsea were more clinical than his side were – and he felt proud about the way his men played because they were simply fantastic on the pitch.
