Chelsea set for £200 million spending spree on five new players – report

According to reports, Premier League Champions Chelsea are set to spend big on five new players this summer before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

The Daily Express claims Chelsea are set to spend huge on strengthening their team as manager Antonio Conte prepares his squad for a return to the UEFA Champions League next month.

The same publication says that Conte has his “sights” on five new players as he looks to further strengthen his team before the close of the summer transfer window.

The article states that the Blues want to sign Southampton trio of Virgil van Dijk, Cedric Soares, and former player Ryan Bertrand as he looks to strengthen his defensive options.

The Blues have also been linked with huge-money offers to try and lure Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater and Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Stamford Bridge.

The West London club have been relatively active in this transfer window so far, having signed goalkeeper Willy Caballero, defender Antonio Rudiger, midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and striker Alvaro Morata.

However, Chelsea continues to be linked with a lot of players as the transfer window approaches its end.

The Blues are preparing for a return to the UEFA Champions League this season after they won the English Premier League last season.
