Chelsea handed first formal bid for Superstar – Not Eden Hazard

According to reports, Premier League Champions Chelsea have received a first formal bid from Catalan side FC Barcelona for the signature of Superstar defender David Luiz.

The central defender has been one of the most identified players ahead of the winter transfer window as the Blues get set to receive huge offers from top European teams for his signature.

Even Premier League returnee, Newcastle United have been named among the interested sides. Rafael Benitez team are speculated to be keen on bringing him on loan for the remaining six months.

However, FC Barcelona have led the race on other teams in submitting a first bid for the Brazil international defender as they want to seal his signature for the remaining six months on loan, as per Telefoot.

The loan move will appeal to David Luiz as he battles to make a good impression on Brazil National team coach Tite after his bust-up with the head coach has prevented him from making it to the Chelsea first team recently, although injury problems have contributed to his absence of late.

According to Metro, the former Barcelona defender contacted the Catalan club about a possible winter transfer when he embarked on a journey to Spain to see a specialist concerning his knee.
