Spanish La Liga giants Atletico have joined the keenly contested race to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes according to the latest media reports.
A lot of Premier League clubs have registered their interest in signing the Portuguese international midfielder.
Liverpool are one of those Premier League sides though the Reds’ interest seems to have cooled down in recent weeks.
Portuguese international player Bruno Fernandes is rated at around £70m by his club who are keen to sell him on the back of a sensational season.
The 24-year-old has a release clause of €100m (around £89m) but Sporting Lisbon are willing to sanction his sale for a lesser amount.
Apart from Liverpool, other Premier League sides like Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the running to sign him.
Bruno Fernandes broke the midfield goalscoring records in the just concluded campaign after he scored 32 goals for Sporting Lisbon in all competitions.
The Portuguese international usurped the previous record from Frank Lampard who scored 27 goals in all competitions for Chelsea during the 2009/10 season.
In addition, Bruno Fernandes also provided 18 assists to take his goal contributions to 50 goals.
The Portuguese midfielder scored 20 goals and assisted 13 goals in 33 league games.
