Forget Mesut Ozil, Arsene Wenger wants this Arsenal superstar to stay

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated in clear terms his desire to keep England international Theo Walcott at the Emirates Stadium despite interest from Southampton, notwithstanding hardly playing the forward.

According to reports, Southampton have made known their interest in signing the former Saints starlet recently and were hoping to secure a loan move in the January window.

However, despite French tactician hardly choosing the winger to play this campaign, the former Monaco boss has said that he’d love to keep the Arsenal forward. Wenger disclosed;

I [Arsene Wenger] want him [Theo Walcott] to stay. I [Arsene Wenger} heard about [the Southampton speculations], but personally, I [Arsene Wenger] want him [Walcott] to stay.

The contract situation of Alexis Sanchez doesn’t help either, with the North London outfit wanting to settle the former Barcelone star’s future before deciding on Theo Walcott.

Meanwhile, Southampton are in need of serious attacking reinforcements, having struggled recently.

The side have enough money to splash around after offloading Virgil van Dijk to Merseyside club Liverpool for £75m, and are set to reinvest the fund to ensure their English Premier League status is intact.

The Arsenal forward would bring to the party much-required quality and top-class experience to the Saint’s attack, including being a homecoming for the now 28-year old attacker.

  1. Not only Walcott you must sell Welbeck and Iwobi too. They are inept. Forget them Wenger. Need a big overhaul.
