Major injury boost
Arsenal have received major injury boost ahead of weekend’s League Cup final match with Manchester City as manager Arsene Wenger has said that both Germany international Mesut Ozil and Welshman Aaron Ramsey are in line to play a part at Wembley, while Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette’s recuperation is ahead of schedule.
It was thought that the Wales international would miss out on this Sunday’s encounter for the first piece of trophy of the current campaign thanks to a groin problem but Ramsey returned to training yesterday as Arsenal prepared to play Ostersunds in the return leg of their UEFA Europa League clash.
Remarkable Wembley record
Aaron Ramsey has been a vital figure for the Gunners at Wembley in time past, netting the winning goal in two different Emirates FA Cup finals for Arsenal.
He has been sidelined since netting his first hat-trick as a gunner during the 5-1 victory over Everton but Arsene Wenger said that the midfield maestro could face Manchester City on Sunday.
German expected to feature
The French tactician then added that although Mesut Ozil will not play against Ostersunds on Thursday night, he expects the World Cup winner to be fit to play against Pep Guardiola’s team on Sunday.
As for France international Lacazette, though the striker will not be available against the Premier League leaders, the manager expressed his delight at how the forward is recovering faster than planned.
