With England international forward Danny Welbeck being substituted at half-time in his first match in more than one month due to injury, a number of fans feared the striker had sustained another one.
However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has finally spoken and said that it was always his plan to substitute the former Manchester United striker at the break.
Danny Welbeck started against FC Cologne in the 1-0 UEFA Europa League defeat and came off with the scoreline 0-0 for England striker Alex Iwobi at half-time.
Before this, the striker hadn’t featured since he played about 60 minutes at Vicarage Road in the 2-1 defeat to Marco Silva’s Watford FC.
The Arsenal striker started the first five games of the current campaign, with the striker’s personal highlight of the season so far being the brace he scored in the 3-0 win over AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.
However, since the goalless draw at Chelsea’s home, Stamford Bridge, he was only played partially in the Watford and Koln games.
