Arsenal set to break bank to land Sanchez replacement – SkySports

Reports indicate Arsenal are working round the clock on a deal to land Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

As per Sky Sports, the African remains a transfer target for the Gunners despite Borussia Dortmund hitting out at disrespectful Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

The 28-year-old forward would command a transfer fee that would be more than the current club-record £52million deal to land Lyon and France international forward  Alexandre Lacazette last summer, the same story suggests.

Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis, who has been heavily criticized, is still on Aubameyang’s case in Germany looking to agree to terms to land the former African footballer of the year this month.

The Borussia Dortmund forward would surely add a goal threat to Arsenal after 141 goals in 212 matches across all competitions during a five-year stay at the North London club.

The Gunners are facing a huge task to seal a return to the UEFA Champions League after missing out this season after finishing in fifth position last term.

Arsenal are currently in the sixth position on the log and eight points adrift third-placed Chelsea.

Wenger’s team crashed out of the Emirates FA Cup earlier in the month following a 4-2 defeat to English Championship club Nottingham Forest.
