Spanish media publication Marca, as cited by talkSPORT, is claiming that the Gunners are keen on a potential deal to land the Uruguay international defender ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

The same report says that UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid are also keeping close tabs on the defender in the hope of luring Gimenez to Madrid.

As per the same article, the Gunners scouts had identified the South American as a player good enough of improving Arsenal’s leaky backline under new boss Unai Emery.
