According to Spanish media, North London giants Arsenal will lose out to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the race to land Atletico Madrid star Jose Gimenez.
Arsenal seek defensive reinforcement
Spanish media publication Marca, as cited by talkSPORT, is claiming that the Gunners are keen on a potential deal to land the Uruguay international defender ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
The same report says that UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid are also keeping close tabs on the defender in the hope of luring Gimenez to Madrid.
As per the same article, the Gunners scouts had identified the South American as a player good enough of improving Arsenal’s leaky backline under new boss Unai Emery.

However, Marca suggests that The Los Blancos are set to activate his £53 million buyout clause in the 2018 summer window.
