Why Arsenal made decision to spend big on South American

It was earlier a surprise that Arsenal paid that big for Lucas Torreira who was looking not to be a proven player especially when he first joined the Emirates Stadium from Italian Serie A outfit Sampdoria.

This has been well explained by transfer expert Peter Hall who claimed that the North London side were not scared to splash £26.5 million on the Uruguay international despite having a limited budget.

Although, Lucas Torreira has now proven that he deserves such an amount having come in to mend the fences between the Arsenal defence and the middle, in addition to creating stability in front of the Gunners defence.

However, football expert Peter Hall noted that the Gunners took the risk because they had big confidence in the new director of football Raul Sanllehi who is also the head of recruitment.

According to him, Raul Sanllehi is known to have the experience and contact, especially having the ability to get things done easily.

He added that Raul Sanllehi can be trusted having played a big part in bringing Neymar to Barcelona because of his good contacts in South America.

However, Raul Sanllehi is still playing a part in why the Gunners will not be moving for big deals this winter transfer window as he has made it clear that he does not like January recruitment.
