Why Chelsea Target Won’t Leave Napoli

Experienced Italian journalist David Amoyal has revealed that Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly won’t leave the club despite the intense transfer rumours linking him with a move back to the Premier League.

David Amoyal talked about Koulibaly while he was speaking about transfers on the CalcioLand Podcast.

According to him, he can’t see Koulibaly leaving Napoli when the transfer window reopens in the summer as the Senegalese international centre back has always maintained that he wants to stay with the Italian Serie A giants amidst the transfer rumours.

Kalidou Koulibaly has established himself as a key performer for Napoli since joining the club from Belgian side Genk in 2014.

The 27-year-old is widely seen as many as one of the top three central defenders on the world stage.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for him.

Many thought he would follow Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea when the Italian tactician was appointed the Blues manager last summer.

Manchester United are also in the running to sign him with recent reports claiming that the Red Devils had two bids knocked back by Napoli for him.

It would take a world record bid (defender) to prise him away from Napoli.

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk holds the record at £75m
