Chelsea set to make big announcement on exciting defender

According to The Evening Standard,, Premier League Champions Chelsea are planning contract negotiations with young defender Andreas Christensen next month.

The report suggests that the Blues want to seal Christensen’s future with the West London club.

The Dane has been in brilliant form for the Blues this term after coming back from a two-season loan in the German Bundesliga.

The center-half has made himself a frequent starter for Conte’s team, and produced another brilliant display in the Blues 1-0 victory over Southampton last Saturday.

The youngster has successfully displaced Brazil international David Luiz from the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge, which has led to the team wanting to reward him with a new contract.

Christensen’s current contract expires in the summer of 2020, with the Blues wanting to extend that, possibly to 2022.

The report suggests that he is on £35k-weekly on his present Chelsea deal, with a pay rise expected for his new contract.

The defender has played from the start 16 matches this term for Antonio Conte, eight times as many matches as he has played for the side before the beginning of the campaign.

With David Luiz set to leave the side sooner, possibly next month, Christensen has already sealed the hole at the back in his absence.
