Despite Basel Defeat, Man United Star Player Set Champions League Record

FC Basel earned all three points against Manchester United on Wednesday night when both sides clashed in the Champions League at Switzerland.

Micheal Lang’s late strike gave his side a crucial win that awakened their hopes of sailing through to the knockout stage.

Although Manchester United remains favourites to finish at the top of their group, they will need to beat CSKA Moscow next month at Old Trafford when the Champions League week comes again.

At Basel, Jose Mourinho’s side were presented with lots of opportunities to score, but they failed to convert any into a goal.

They, however, paid the price for failing to win the game as the late goal from Lang means the Old Trafford club haven’t confirmed their place in the final-16.

On a brighter side, we saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming into the game as the Swede legend continued his search for match fitness by playing for 25 minutes without issues.

The 36-year-old replaced Anthony Martial in the second half, and even though he couldn’t make any meaningful impact on the game, his presence on the pitch broke a Champions League record that makes him the first and only player to represent seven different clubs in the Champions League.

Zlatan has played for Ajax, Juventus, PSG, Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

This is so impressive!
