Chelsea consider Everton star as alternative to 27 year old target

Premier League Champions Chelsea are eyeing Everton’s Idrissa Gueye as an alternative to midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

According to the Sun, the Blues are seeking recruitment in midfield but have seen a potential offer for Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater stall over the transfer fee.

The West London club have already had an offer of about £20m for the Leicester City star turned down by the Foxes, who are seeking about £40m for the 27-year-old midfielder.

As a result, the Antonio Conte tutored side are seeking alternatives, with PSG’s Grzegorz Krychowiak and Everton’s Idrissa Gueye having emerged as possible signings.

PSG’s Krychowiak has already pulled a lot of interest, with several Premier League clubs including Arsenal and West Ham believed to be watching closely, while Lyon, Valencia, Fiorentina, and Zenit St Petersburg are other suitors.

Everton’s Gueye is the new name to emerge, having impressed Chelsea Chiefs with countless impressive outings for the Merseysiders over the past one year.

Gueye, 27, has been compared to current France international and Chelsea ace N’Golo Kante for his strong performances in the middle of the park, but he is currently considered an important member of Ronald Koeman’s plans at the Merseyside club and are believed to be unlikely to sell.
