Updated: Marouane Fellaini agrees to terms with Galatasaray
Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is in talks to join Galatasaray, according to club sporting director Cenk Ergun.
The 29-year-old has had a mixed experience at the Old Trafford from being criticized by a large section of the club fans to becoming a key figure in Jose Mourinho’s plans at the club last season, making a total of 39 appearances.
However, Fellaini has been tipped to leave Manchester United since January in a bid to get more chances elsewhere, with reports that the midfielder could even fancy a move to China.
Reports in Turkey have it that Galatasaray are in talks to sign the Belgian midfielder this summer and personal terms has already been agreed between the player and the Turkish giants.
Cenk Ergun has now confirmed the reports, he said: “We have a surprise name for a position. We have had talks with Marouane Fellaini.
“We need a player like Fellaini who can shuttle around in midfield.
“We have made an approach, we are close.”
Marouane Fellaini who joined United from Everton under former Goodison Park and Old Trafford boss David Moyes, is known for his aggressive style of play in the midfield but Mourinho is keen on bringing another central midfielder to consolidate the efforts of Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera next season.
