It appears Chelsea boss Antonio Conte does not have too much confidence in his current squad at Chelsea ahead of the upcoming Champions League season.

The Italian manager has once again placed emphasis on the need to add more quality to his squad by signing new players before the end of the summer transfer window.

The former Juventus manager thinks bringing more additions into his squad will help Chelsea compete with clubs like Bayern Munich in the Champions League this season.

Conte helped bring back Champions League football to Stamford Bridge after winning the premier league trophy in his first season at Chelsea and in England.

But the former Italy head coach has made it clear all summer that he wants to strengthen his squad before the commencement of the upcoming campaign.

Already, John Terry, Asmir Begovic, Nathan Ake, Nathaniel Chalobah, and Kurt Zouma have all departed Stamford Bridge, and others like Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic are set for a move away.

Even though the premier league champions have already completed a deals for Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger, and Willy Caballero, the manager drew attention to the superb strength of Bayern’s squad and their activities in the transfer market after losing 3-2 to the German giants in Singapore.

‘I’m excited to play in the Champions League [with Chelsea] but know we have lots of road ahead before we can compete to try to win the Champions League,’ Antonio said.

‘We’re trying to rebuild a situation and that is not easy. You need a bit of time to create a structure and to build every season and then to go to fight.’
