Why Ed Woodward met Mata on finals match day

It has been revealed that Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward had held a meeting with Juan Mata over his future in this office as soon as they lost 2-0 to relegating side Cardiff on Sunday.

Juan Mata has been a subject of speculations at the Old Trafford as his contract is set to end with the Red Devils but there are suggestions that the club management do not want the star player to leave.

He has been an important player since he joined the club from the West London outfit Chelsea but an agreement is yet to be reached over his next step.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reported to have had a change of mind on the future of Juan Mata at the club as he will be comfortable with the Spanish international leaving as part of the overhaul of his team.

Juan Mata is getting older and has not been in the right standing of the team which is the reason why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will seek for a replacement for the star player as he plans to return the club to winning ways.

It is, therefore, yet to be seen if Juan Mata had an agreement with Ed Woodward on the way forward.
