Arsenal Target William Carvalho To Remain With Sporting Lisbon

Arsenal target and Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho will stay with his Portuguese unless his €45m release clause is met following the resurrection of transfer talks concerning the 2016 European Championship winner according to reports.

The Portuguese international has been a long term target for English Premier League (EPL) sides but he has so far remain with Sporting Lisbon.

The latest transfer rumours involve him being linked with heavyweight sides like London clubs Chelsea and Arsenal as well as Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window, which starts on Sunday, January 1, 2017.

As reported from SAPO Desporto, William Carvalho won’t leave Portugal until his release clause is met with club president viewing him as one of the key players in the team in addition to the fact that he is unwilling to lose him in the middle of the season.

To further highlight his fears concerning the former Portugal U21 midfielder, William Carvalho has not missed a game for the club this season culminating in 23 appearances for him in all competitions.

Sporting Lisbon are presently occupying the 4th position in the Portuguese Super League with 30 points from the first 15 games of the season, which is 8 points adrift of leaders Benfica.

To this effect, William Carvalho is needed for a sustained title challenge and could have to wait until the Summer to finally make his move away from Sporting Lisbon.
