Manchester United were passive in the last winter transfer window with no deals at all but there are indications that the club will be busy in the coming summer window.
The hint has already been given by interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the PSG defeat when he stated that the club have learnt a lot from the Ligue 1 outfit and they will go all out to recruit players that will take them to the next level.
However, United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is believed to be at the centre of the entire transfer dealings of the club and he has been able to establish the fact that quality defenders are needed at the club.
The Red Devils have therefore been linked with a number of names like Kalidou Koulibaly, Joachim Andersen and Milan Skriniar with claims that they would be approached ahead of the summer window.
It is therefore understood that United will not move in on any player who cannot meet with their criteria of being a commanding figure and an influencer with a physical leadership quality like Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk.
Also, the player must be technical in making attacking moves to help the team become more mobile.
