Arsenal defender Rob Holding has disclosed that the players knew about group rivals Paris Saint Germain (PSG)’s surprising halftime result at home to Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad.
Holding made his UEFA Champions League (UCL) debut and helped his side to a 4-1 win over hosts FC Basel in what was their final group game as far as Group A is concerned. Summer signing Lucas Perez was the star of the show as he netted a hat-trick on his first UCL start for Arsenal while Nigerian international Alex Iwobi added a fourth strike for his debut UCL goal before Seydou Doumbia got a late consolation for the home side.
The result ensured that Arsenal finished top of Group A ahead of French champions and former leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG), who recovered from a 1-0 deficit at halftime to secure a 2-2 draw with Ludogorets Razgrad.
Former Bolton star Rob Holding stated that the team knew about PSG’s scores at halftime as he said: “We saw the scores as we were coming in so we knew that, if we kept doing our job, the rest would take care of itself.”
“It turns out it has done so it’s a great night for us.”
On the depth of Arsenal’s squad, Holding stated that: “We’ve got a great squad here with options in every position and all the players who stepped in produced a good performance.
“All we can do is our best each time we’re picked and I think we’ve done that.” he concluded.
