United 2 – 0 Reading : Another win for United as Ole Gunnar sets new record

Manchester United have now won five consecutive matches in all competition as they managed to defeat Reading 2-0 in FA Cup

The Red Devils were far from their impressive attacking form against the Championship side during the encounter but they still managed to score two goals.

Juan Mata scored the first goal of the game as he converted from the spot in the 22nd minute.

The Spaniard was brought down in the box by Omar Richards but it took VAR’s intervention before referee Stuart Atwell could award a penalty kick after three minutes.

The Red Devils search for the second goal of the game but their efforts weren’t enough to see them break Reading’s resolute backline until first-half stoppage time.

Belgian star Romelu Lukaku benefitted from Alexis Sanchez’s through ball to double the Red Devils lead in the last minute of stoppage time.

Unfortunately, Sanchez couldn’t complete the encounter as there seemed to be a relapse to his hamstring injury which ruled him out of action for more than a month.

In-form Marcus Rashford was introduced into the game as the Chilean’s replacement in the 64th minute but the England international couldn’t add to the tally.

It ended 2-0 in favour of the home side who will be waiting patiently to know their next opponent is the competition progress to the next round.

Solskjaer became the first Manchester United manager to win first five matches in charge of the team and he will hope his men return back to their free-flowing attacking football when they face Tottenham in their upcoming Premier League fixture.

Tottenham are presently in a very deadly and free-scoring form, they will definitely be a great test for Solskjaer’s side next weekend
