Roma has made it known recently that one of the reasons they chose not to sign Daley Blind from Manchester United is because of ‘financial reasons’.
Daley was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford on Wednesday, and there were intense speculations he is likely to sign for Roma before the winter transfer window closed at 11 pm yesterday.
Roma sold Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea for £25million on Tuesday night and Blind was identified as a good replacement for the Brazilian player.
However, now that the window is closed, the Serie A heavyweights said the Manchester United player was not a suitable target.
The Italian club were able to persuade Sporting Lisbon to send Jonathan Silva to Italy on a 6-month loan deal.
And speaking at the unveiling of the Argentina international, Roma sporting director Monchi made it known that Blind was truly examined by the board, but a decision was made that the Dutchman wasn’t suited for them – and part of the reasons was due to financing.
The chief also added that his side are yet to receive an official offer for No. 1 shot-stopper Alisson Becker.
The Brazilian international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club in recent times after emerging as a target for Liverpool.
